Amid fighting and surges of violence, nearly 2 million refugees have been forced to leave their homes and seek refuge. One such place is in the small village of Riimenze, where more than 7,000 refugees are living in makeshift tents. As insecurity deepens, it remains a struggle to keep up with the surge of arrivals. The camp is lacking basic necessities such as safe drinking water, food, medicine, clothing, and shelter. What’s worse, severe acute malnutrition is expected to rise, especially for children. The future of a generation is truly on the brink.

According to reports, Sudan’s war has displaced 9 million people in the country. Another 1.7 million escaped to neighboring countries like South Sudan, Ethiopia, and Chad. In total, over 10 million people have been forced to flee the brutal conflict.
