When Sudan Relief Fund began our work in Sudan and South Sudan more than two decades ago, dictator Omar al-Bashir was waging a war of terror against the region’s Christians and non-Muslims. Between brutal oppression, bombings, and kidnappings, the people of South Sudan struggled every day just to survive. Thanks to the compassion and support of our donors, together we saved untold numbers of lives.
Tragically, more than 25 years later, the people of Sudan and South Sudan are once again fighting for their lives. Civil war broke out in Sudan’s capital in 2023 that has displaced more than 11 million people and decimated the nation. Over a million have fled to South Sudan, a country whose population already teeters precariously on the brink of famine. Consecutive disasters of floods and drought, along with economic fallout from the war in Sudan, thrust South Sudan into a severe food shortage.
South Sudan now reels under the demand of a million new refugees. Other displaced Sudanese fled to the Nuba Mountains, where famine is rampant and fighting has cut off supply routes. Massive starvation threatens to wreak a humanitarian catastrophe – the worst in our world today. Children and families are dying from hunger as you read this. Without immediate large-scale intervention, the death toll could be calamitous.
Your monthly gift will send emergency food relief during this crucial time. The impact you make will save countless lives. Please partner with us now. Together, we can stop one of the worst humanitarian tragedies the world has largely ignored, and bring hope and help to suffering people.
The Sudan Relief Fund is a 501(c)3 charitable organization established for the purpose of bringing food, clothing, shelter, and medical attention to the people of South Sudan.
